1.   Which anesthesia is used in joint replacement surgery?

Dr. Greig prefers epidural anesthesia to general anesthesia. He reports fewer side effects with epidural anesthesia and believes that the patients are more comfortable during and after surgery.

2.   After joint replacement is a CPM (Continuous Passive Motion) machine used?

Yes, during your hospital stay and while in Puerto Vallarta you will have access to use the CPM. 

3.   What is the protocol for pain control?

Pain control is administered via the patient's IV and with an epidural catheter pain control pump while hospitalized. Upon discharge, the patient will experience less pain, which can be controlled with oral and intramuscular medications.
